11:50 AM CASE STUDY: Supporting the Growth and Advancement of Health and Education Super Precincts in NSW

The NSW Government is investing $1.62 Billion collectively for the growth and advancement of health and education in Sydney’s East and West. Dubbed “super precincts”, the Randwick and Westmead campuses will offer the opportunity to achieve seamless cross-integration and collaboration between hospitals, universities and the broader community. While supporting Sydney’s rapidly growing population and complex demographics, the super precincts will attract outstanding global talent, drive better healthcare and research and yield economic benefits for the broader Australian community. In this session, Michael will outline:

  • Their journey in planning, designing and developing the Randwick and Westmead Health and Education Precincts
  • How Westmead in particular will drive investment and job growth so that by 2036, it will transform into a globally competitive innovation district by 2036, adding $2.8 Billion per annum of economic output to the NSW economy
  • The importance of building partnerships and treating the precincts as complimentary rather than competitive
