3:20 PM CASE STUDY: Redesigning in a Brownfield Site – Establishing the Interface between Digital Hospitals and Models of Care
Having pioneered Australia’s first integrated digital tertiary hospital that is set to transform from 1,000 to 2,000 beds by the end of 2018, a major focus for the Princess Alexandra hospital redesign was the interface between digital transformation and their models of care. Often it is the simplest things that are overlooked that can cause operational and resource inefficiencies.
Stephen will outline:
- Salient lessons learnt around their transformation journey, including how they coped with the rapid increase in demand and bed capacity and minimised all other activity that could affect the success of their digital implementation
- Principles of hospital redesign to accommodate new digital environments, such as the remapping and redesign of wards and medication centres
- Rethinking your interaction with patients – theeffect fully digitised environments can have patient experience and models of care
