The prevalence of Dementia is increasing dramatically throughout the World. Alzheimer’s Disease International provide alarming statistics associated with the phenomenal increase and prevalence of Dementia world wide and this is confirmed by Alzheimer’s Australia as being a health priority for Australians. In partnership with Dementia Care Matters, the Salvation
Army Aged Care Plus has successfully trialled an emotional intelligence framework to change the culture in caring for Persons with Dementia. The Butterfly Household Model of Care will revolutionise Dementia care within Australia and this will become increasingly pertinent in an environment as we head towards deregulation.
The presentation will focus on:
• A Dementia Model for the Future and the need for change to revolutionise Dementia care
• The journey of implementation to sustainability
• Outcomes and results of the emotional intelligence framework – Measuring thse success of a new model of care
